Thank you to all of you who came to Back to School night last week. It is always so nice to see all of you. I'm so excited about this year and it was good to get to share some of that enthusiasm with you.
Class Trips
Middle School is unique because we offer each grade level a chance to have a field trip that is over-night and off campus. The dates for the trips this year are:
7th Grade: Keystone Science School Sept. 26-28 Approx. cost $200
6th Grade: Outdoor Education at Covenant Heights Nov. 8-11
8th Grade: Washington DC April 30-May 5
We will have informational meetings about each of these trips. 7th Grade, you should get permission slips and a link to register later this week.
Student Council
We are having Student Council elections this week. Students are gathering for campaign speeches and to vote on Monday.
Battle of the Books
It’s a new year and a new Battle of the Books season. The official Battle of the Books list will be released by the public library on September 6th, so please check the website that day this year’s list. Any student is welcome to try out for the team. Team practices will start on Wednesday, November 2nd at 3:30 - 4:30 in the library. Practices will be every Wednesday after that from 3:30 - 4:30 until the end of the season in March.
All students who would like to join Battle of the Books must read all ten books and score an 85% or better on the AR test no later than the first day of practice in order to join the team.
Once practice starts, team members will be given two books that they will become experts on. They will take notes on their books, write comprehension questions about their books, and read their books several times before we start competition in February.
If you have any questions about Battle of the Books, please contact Mrs. Murphy.
